HEXplore: Just Add Water

February 24, 2017

I have driven from LA to Vegas and back countless times over the years.  Along the way, I always notice what was at first, a water park, and what then obviously became an abandoned water park.  Since I am either crazy pressed for time or making the drive in the wee hours of the morning, I have never been able to stop and check it out.  Until this week.

I finally had the chance to spend a little time exploring this has-been vacation spot.  I love abandoned places because they make me think about all the various lives that have an intersection at that spot on the map.  I think about all the memories that were made there that were once alive, but are now just ghosts.  This place delivered on both counts.

Speaking of ghosts, this place is in the middle of nowhere and rumors abound.  Some say it will reopen.  Some say it's haunted.  I would say of those two choices, the latter is the more likely, although I didn't see any paranormal activity.

So enjoy these images and imagine gusts of wind blowing desert sand in your face and hair, and you will get a pretty good idea of what is was like.
