The everything bag

I now have 3 Hex products. This is my first backpack though. After much deliberation and researching every other bag on the planet I came to the conclusion that this was the perfect bag. I needed quick access that clam shell BS of other rear load bags is a hassle and time consuming. Also, for whatever flipping reason even the $400 bags use that flap as a place to put iPads. So when you open the shell guess what falls out or just gets in the way that ****** flap. Hex bag opens like a piano hinge on the long side so it’s a short wide flap with easy to access zipper pockets. Makes so much more sense for those little things that get lost. Inside the dividers are sturdy and deep. It’s a little deep for my primes but not a big deal. The Velcro is the kind found an high end equipment. So it’s not the cheap kinda that unthreads itself or collects lint. I can carry my DJI SC, 2 Sonys with lens attached, 3 lenses (more if I had more), DJI Mavic and an organizer bag (like peaks but not peak). On the front the main compartment is a fur lined on both sides slide in for your thin apple laptop or iPad Pro. The front also has a place dedicated for business cards. The organizer section has a place for pens notebooks and all the other professional **** you need to carry like chargers. Great bag. Seems sturdy!

Decent "light use" pack

I needed something that would hold enough gear for a weekend video trip & still fit carry on luggage dimensions. This pack worked well for that. I was able to cram two A7s bodies with glass, drone, batteries, audio gear & gimbal. It was very comfortable on my back with everything in it. The shortfalls are some of the design features - having the tripod strapped horizontally to the bottom proves to be an issue when walking through narrow areas (doorways). It would be nice to have some straps on the side to choose which way works best. The pack also does not have any reinforcement in the shoulder straps. With only 30lbs of gear, I could see the stitching start to stretch & I don't think it would hold up to this for very long. Lastly, it is listed as water resistant. I have no idea what that means, as it definitely is not. I dealt with a little bit of rain & made every effort to keep the pack out of it, but the inside still got very damp. I do like the top and side access & ample inside dimensions to carry just about anything you need. The front flap, laptop compartment & zippered compartments are all well thought out and useful. I'd like to continue to use this pack, but will have to be very selective in the jobs I take it to.

Best layout hands down

I bought this backpack after doing a lot of research online. I was using a full sized backpack from another company comparable in size and found that getting all my gear organized was much more of a challenge than I had hoped. I got my hex backpack in the mail and immediately started transferring all my gear doing very minimal modifications to the dividers. I found that it was much easier to organize and everything seemed to have a place, no doubt by design. I was able to fit my a7riii with mounted 24 to 105, 3 speed flashes, flash controller, 90mm macro, 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8, 16 to 35 f4, 70 to 200 f2.8, full cleaning kit, and all my straps.. thats just in the main compartment. I love the design and can't wait to use it for my everyday carry. Thanks Hex. Awesome gear!!
