I have 3 HEX bags all in this same camouflage, the tech, camera and sling. That should say something and I absolutely love them. I bought one for all my camera equipment and fell in love with it so much I started using it for work as well. So then I bought this one and love it especially the laptop sleeve it is soft and big fits my laptop no issues. Good quality stuff, well thought out space. I also have the sling and love that as well. I just wish they had one with a grim reaper on it. Possibly?
This thing is built like a tank, really. I purchased many backpacks in search of the finest one, 10 different ones at this price point with similar features, I returned them all and kept this one. The cordura ballistic material used is excellent, the zippers are the latest YKK and are so smooth and easy to open, the interior soft fleece material is so nice, the magnetic closures work really well, all of it screams quality and durability. Some other packs came close, but then skimped on features or had too many dangling compression straps, or where just too floppy with no structure. This has a nice clean, formed structure/design that maintains its shape well, with padding built into all the sides (which helps keep the shape). The thermo formed back is excellent to to help keep this pack from sagging down. All the stitching is super strong, one look at how the shoulder straps attach to the body and you'll see the difference vs other packs. This has very thoughtful compartments, pockets, storage solutions, etc. And the Glacier camo is unlike anything else out there, and has all my favorite colors. Two downsides. I'm not sure if its the straps or what, but it tends to want to sit lower on my back, no matter how loose or tight I adjust the straps. It might be because its a bit smaller in size and I'm 6'2" so its small on my frame. The second, I simply wish it were bigger. At 17.5L its not bad, but if this things was scaled up just a bit, to 25L, it would be perfect! Depth is around 4 to 5 in, something closer to 6 to 7 would be nice, or a bit taller from top to bottom. A removable waste strap would be nice too, and make this perfect, but it does have a loop at the bottom, which you use to hold the straps in when carrying it with the side handle like a brief case (which is such a nice feature, the side handle that is), so theoretically you could run a strap or belt through that to tie the pack down better near the bottom and around your waist. I will be a return customer for sure, especially if Hex makes a bigger version of a technical backpack. I almost went with the Cinema, since its bigger, to use as a general backpack (not for camera gear), but Glacier Camo was sold out. Im confident in saying this is the best back pack out there, a true heirloom backpack!
I love this backpack. I have been on the search for a new backpack that holds all my things but doesn't look huge or hurt my back or shoulders. The frame sits well and although I over stuff my backpack it is doesn't dig into my shoulders.
Looks great, has a lot of pockets to store things. But the main Compartment seems very cramped. I’m assuming it has to be broken in. I use it as an everyday bag. So I don’t carry books or anything, just my iPad But, no regrets
